The Book Of Psalms
Psalm 5
1 Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my sighing.
2 Listen to
my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray.
3 In the
morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests
before you
and wait in expectation.
4 You are not a God who takes
pleasure in evil; with you the wicked cannot dwell.
5 The arrogant
cannot stand in your presence; you hate all who do wrong.
6 You destroy
those who tell lies; bloodthirsty and deceitful men the LORD abhors.
7
But I, by your great mercy, will come into your house; in
reverence
will I bow down
towards your holy temple.
8 Lead me, O LORD, in your
righteousness because of my enemies-
make straight your way before me.
9 Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled
with destruction.
Their throat is an open grave; with their tongue
they
speak deceit.
10 Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be
their downfall.
Banish them for their many sins, for they have
rebelled
against you.
11 But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them
ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them, that those who
love your name may rejoice in you.
12 For surely, O LORD, you bless the
righteous;
you surround them with your favour as with a shield.

Psalm 8
1 O LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You
have set your glory above the heavens.
2 From the lips of children and
infants
you have ordained praise
because of your enemies,
to silence
the foe and the avenger.
3 When I consider your heavens,
the work of
your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
4
what is man that you are mindful of him,
the son of man that you care
for him?
5 You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings
and
crowned him with glory and honour.
6 You made him ruler over the works
of your hands;
you put everything under his feet:
7 all flocks and
herds,
and the beasts of the field,
8 the birds of the air,
and the
fish of the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.
9 O LORD, our
Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Psalm 15
1 LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary?
Who may live
on your holy hill?
2 He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous,
who speaks the
truth from his heart
3 and has no slander on his tongue,
who does his neighbour no wrong and casts
no slur on his fellow-man,
4 who despises a vile man but honours those
who fear the LORD,
who keeps his oath even when it hurts,
5 who lends
his money without usury and does not accept a bribe against the
innocent.
He who does these things will never be shaken.
Psalm 23
1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet
waters,
3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the
shadow of death, I will fear no evil,
for you are with me; your rod and
your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the
presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
and
I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Psalm 24
1 The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the
world, and all who live in it;
2 for he founded it upon the seas and
established it upon the waters.
3 Who may ascend the hill of the LORD?
Who may stand in his holy place?
4 He who has clean hands and a pure
heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol
or swear by what is
false.
5 He will receive blessing from the LORD and vindication from
God his Saviour.
6 Such is the generation of those who seek him, who
seek your face, O God of Jacob.
7 Lift up your heads, O you gates; be
lifted up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
8 Who
is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in
battle.
9 Lift up your heads, O you gates; lift them up, you ancient
doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
10 Who is he, this King of glory? The LORD Almighty- he is the King of glory.
